Transforming Lucy Lane South Playground

The Vision

Stanway Parish Council sought to redevelop an ageing playground in a residential area, transforming it into an engaging, imaginative, and inclusive play space for local children. The goal was to remove outdated equipment and create a modern play environment that would be hard-wearing, safe, and encourage free-flow play.

The Solution

Caloo was awarded the tender to design and install a brand-new playground featuring exciting, age-appropriate play equipment and durable safety surfacing. The newly developed space provides a variety of play opportunities, catering to different age groups and abilities.

Key installations included:

  • Castillo Castle 3003, offering climbing, sliding, and interactive play.
  • A swing set with 2 flat seats and 2 cradle seats, providing options for younger and older children.
  • Shark Springer, encouraging imaginative and active play.
  • SeeSaw ST 0500, promoting social play and balance development.
  • A challenging trail, including:
    • Balance beam bridge
    • Balance beam
    • Stepping pods
    • Tunnel, enhancing coordination and confidence-building.
  • MulchBond and wet-pour safety surfacing, ensuring durability and year-round accessibility.

The Impact

The newly transformed playground at Lucy Lane South has quickly become a well-loved community asset, offering safe, stimulating, and engaging play experiences for local children.

  • Encourages imaginative and active play, allowing children of all ages to play together.
  • Designed for long-term durability, meeting the council’s requirement for hard-wearing and sustainable play solutions.
  • Enhances community engagement, providing a secure and exciting space for families to enjoy.

The site has been completely revitalised, ensuring that children in the area have a fun, inclusive, and adventurous play space for years to come.
