A Modern Upgrade for a Thriving Skating Community

The Vision

Bedale Town Council sought to revitalise its outdated skate park, which had become uninspiring and underused. The goal was to create a fresh, modern space that would engage the local skating community and provide opportunities for skaters, scooters, and inline roller bladers of all abilities.

The new installation needed to:

  • Utilise the existing footprint while maximising play value.
  • Cater to all skill levels, from toddlers on scooters to experienced skaters from the local high school.
  • Encourage local engagement, reducing the need for young skaters to travel to larger cities like Leeds to pursue their passion.
  • Offer a durable, long-lasting facility that would stand the test of time.

The Solution

Caloo worked closely with Bedale Town Council and local residents to design and install a high-quality skate park, featuring Skate Bundle 3 with an extension. This modern and dynamic setup provides skaters with multiple routes, ramps, and challenges, making it an inclusive and exciting environment for all users.

Key installations included:

  • A robust concrete-based skate park, offering smooth transitions and a professional feel.
  • A variety of ramps and features are designed for progression and skill-building.
  • Innovative layout design, ensuring maximum use of the existing footprint.
  • Safety-focused installation, with clear sightlines and a CCTV facility funded by Bedale Town Council for added security.

Additionally, Caloo supported the community by providing an opening package, helping to celebrate the new facility and encourage immediate engagement from local skaters.

Part of the project was the removal and disposal of the old installation, ensuring a smooth transition to the new skate park without disrupting the surrounding area. The project also required careful planning to maximise the available budget, ensuring that budget was spent effectively to create the most user-friendly and engaging skate park possible.

The Impact

The renovated Bedale Skate Park is now a vibrant, contemporary space, offering a safe and dynamic environment for the local skating community.

  • Encourages young skaters to stay local, reducing the need to travel to bigger cities for high-quality facilities.
  • Creates an inclusive, welcoming space, where skaters, scooter riders, and inline bladers can learn, progress, and socialise.
  • Long-lasting and durable construction, ensuring that the community benefits from the facility for years to come.

Community Feedback

“We are thrilled to see the completion of the new skate park. The transformation is remarkable, and we are confident it will be enjoyed by skaters of all ages and abilities for many years. This project is a great example of how community engagement and funding can bring exciting new facilities to our town.”
