The Vision
Stanton Bridge Primary School sought to revamp their existing outdoor play space, replacing an old and unsafe timber trim trail with a more durable, secure, and engaging play solution. The goal was to introduce a variety of physical play activities that would challenge children and support their motor skill development, balance, and coordination.
The Solution
Caloo worked closely with the school to design and install a brand-new trim trail, incorporating a range of climbing, balancing, and adventure-based elements to keep children active and engaged.
Key installations included:
- Two-Panel Traverse Wall with Core Rope Link, encouraging climbing and coordination.
- Balance Slalom, Log Stack, Rolling Beam, and Wobble Board, designed to enhance agility and motor skills.
- Parallel Bars, Log Rope, and Hanging Tarzan Ring Beam, providing upper body strength challenges.
- Rope Tunnel, introducing crawling and adventure play.
- Stepping Logs, supporting balance and movement development.
- Sif Multiplay Unit, featuring a slide, climbing challenges, and multiple interactive play elements.
Surfacing for Safety and Accessibility
The entire trim trail was installed with bonded rubber mulch surfacing, offering a porous, durable, and environmentally friendly solution made from recycled rubber. This surface is compliant with BS EN 1177:2008, ensuring safe and year-round play.
The Impact
The new trim trail has been a resounding success, providing children with exciting new play challenges while enhancing their physical skills.

- The Two-Panel Climb Wall with Rope Crossing has proven particularly popular, improving fine motor skills and balance.
