Outdoor Shelters
Design and Installation
Every shelter or furniture project starts with our free design service. We assess the site, usage patterns, sightlines, surfacing, drainage, sun and wind exposure, then produce CAD layouts showing positioning, dimensions and approach paths.
As suppliers, not manufacturers, we configure proven products from established UK ranges. We don’t design furniture or shelters in-house, but we tailor selection and layout to your brief.
To work out what you need, we look at user group and site constraints, including accessible playground equipment, wheelchair accessible playground seating and dropped-side benches where inclusion is a priority. Our installers handle groundworks, foundations, anchoring, fencing line and surfacing connection.
Industries
We supply outdoor shelters and furniture across four sectors, covering schools, multi-academy trusts, NHS settings, local and parish councils, housing developers, contractors, holiday parks and visitor attractions:
- Education: playground shelters for schools, picnic benches for schools, wooden benches for schools, planters for schools, school fencing panels, school security fencing and playground fencing for primary, secondary and SEN settings.
- Government: local authority parks, parish council recreation grounds and NHS therapeutic spaces.
- Construction: architects, contractors and housing developers fitting out new residential and mixed-use schemes.
- Commercial: holiday parks, visitor attractions, pubs and retail destinations, where commercial outdoor seating and commercial outdoor planters anchor public realm spaces.
Outdoor Shelter and Furniture Regulations
Outdoor furniture used in playgrounds must comply with BS EN 1176 where it sits within a play zone (e.g. play panels, themed benches). Shelters must meet BS 6399 for wind and snow loading, and timber and steel components are FSC-certified or galvanised respectively.
Playground safety fencing follows BS 1722 and Sport England guidance on enclosure heights. We complete a post-installation inspection on every scheme and supply signage where age-restricted use applies.
Project Funding and Support Advice
We provide free funding and support advice for schools, councils and community organisations adding shelters, furniture and fencing to outdoor spaces. Support covers bid writing, evidencing need, cost breakdown and identifying funders/ Furniture and shelter projects often fit smaller, faster funding streams than full play schemes, making them a practical first phase of a larger outdoor improvement plan.
