A Community Play and Sports Area for Croudace Homes

The Vision

Croudace Homes Ltd set out to create this Burgess Hill play area as an engaging, inclusive space for residents of its new housing development, not just a play area but a hub for the whole estate. The brief called for a safe, high-quality recreational space that worked for every age group and ability, from toddlers through to teenagers, combining a full playground with a genuine Multi-Use Games Area for football, basketball and tennis rather than treating sport as an afterthought. The goal throughout was to encourage active lifestyles and help build a genuine sense of community as new residents moved in.

Key objectives for this Burgess Hill play area included:

  • A playground with equipment suitable for toddlers to teenagers.
  • A Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) to facilitate football, basketball and tennis.
  • A welcoming, accessible space for families to socialise and stay active.

The Solution

First, Caloo worked closely with Croudace Homes to design and install a fully equipped play and sports area that met the needs of the growing community.

Key installations included:

  • Robinia Seesaw
  • Robinia Multiplay Unit
  • Clamber Stack Sorella
  • Robinia Swing, 2 cradle seats and 1 flat seat
  • Robinia Single Basket Swing, for inclusive swinging
  • Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) for football, basketball and tennis, with line markings and championship-spec fencing and gates
  • Removable tennis net posts
  • Free-standing five-a-side goals
  • Wooden benches

Key Considerations

Caloo installed this large-scale project through the winter months, working around unpredictable weather rather than pausing the build. Regular communication with Croudace Homes kept the installation on schedule without cutting corners on quality.

The Impact

Overall, this Burgess Hill play area has transformed the neighbourhood, giving residents safe, engaging spaces to stay active and socialise.

Project outcomes included:

  • A dedicated outdoor play area for infants and juniors, supporting social development and motor skills.
  • A high-quality MUGA encouraging sports participation and an active lifestyle.
  • Seating creating a welcoming, well-maintained environment.
  • A versatile, inclusive space built to serve the community for years to come.

Why Caloo Was Chosen

  • A playground designed for the full age range, from toddlers to teenagers, not just younger children.
  • A genuine Multi-Use Games Area covering football, basketball and tennis, complete with line markings and free-standing five-a-side goals.
  • Effective project management that kept a large-scale winter installation on schedule despite unpredictable weather.
