Why it matters

The Benefits of Centre Piece Multiplays

A centre piece unit does a job no cluster of small equipment can match. It gives your playground a landmark, sets the character of the whole space and carries far more children at once than separate items ever would.
  • Maximum play value per square metreMulti-level decks, climbing walls, nets, tube slides and bridges stack vertically, so you get exceptional capacity from a single footprint.
  • A landmark that draws people inTall, visually striking adventure playground equipment gives a park or school grounds an identity and a reason for families to travel to it.
  • High capacity for busy sitesThese structures are designed for many users at once, which cuts queuing and spreads children across the unit rather than bunching them at one entry point.
  • Challenge levels for mixed agesWe can specify easier ground-level routes alongside higher, harder climbs, so a single kids outdoor climbing frame works for KS1 through to teenagers.
  • Designed and engineered around your siteEvery layout is planned with 2D drawings and 3D visuals so the unit sits correctly for sightlines, access, safety zones and pedestrian flow.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about specifying, installing and maintaining Centre Piece Multiplays.
What is the best surface to use under a large outdoor climbing frame?

Wet pour rubber is the usual choice under centre piece units because the higher decks demand a higher Critical Fall Height rating and wet pour gives a consistent, tested depth. Bonded rubber mulch is a good alternative where you want a more natural finish. We calculate the required depth from the unit's fall height and install it as part of the same project.

What age range are centre piece multiplays suitable for?

Most centre piece units are specified for ages 4 and up, and many work well right through to secondary age. Because the structure carries multiple routes and challenge levels, we can zone easier ground-level activities for younger children alongside higher climbs for older ones within the same unit.

Can a centre piece play tower be customised or themed?

Yes. Layouts, deck heights, colour schemes and the mix of climbing and sliding features can all be specified to suit your site, and themed options such as treehouse and adventure tower designs are available. We work through this at the free design stage.

How much does a large play tower cost?

Centre piece units cover a wide range depending on height, capacity and features, and surfacing and groundworks are a significant part of the total. Rather than guessing, send us your space and budget and we will design something that fits both, with a no-obligation quotation.

Are these units suitable for schools as well as parks?

Yes. Schools with the available space often use a centre piece unit as the main draw of the playground, then build smaller trim trails and play panels around it. We deliver these for primary schools, secondary schools, academies and multi-academy trusts.

How do centre piece multiplays handle accessibility?

We can specify ramped access, wider decks, ground-level activity panels and transfer points, and pair the unit with inclusive play equipment nearby so children of all abilities have something to use within the same space. We can specify ramped access, wider decks, ground-level activity panels and transfer points, and pair the unit with inclusive play equipment nearby so children of all abilities have something to use within the same space.

What maintenance does a centre piece unit need?

An annual inspection, routine checks on fixings and moving parts, and periodic surfacing checks. Our aftercare service covers inspections and any remedial work so the unit stays open and compliant year after year.
