Why it matters

The Benefits of Individual Outdoor Gym Units

Not every site suits a fixed package. Choosing individual units gives you control over the mix of outdoor fitness equipment, the footprint it occupies and the budget it takes up, which matters when you are working around existing paths, trees and play areas.
  • A layout built around your site, not a template – You choose the units, we plan the spacing and safety zones, so awkward or narrow spaces still get a usable fitness area.
  • Spread the cost across phases – Starting with a handful of stations and adding more later lets councils and schools match spend to funding as it becomes available.
  • Match the equipment to the users – Pairing low-impact units with strength stations means the same outdoor exercise equipment works for older users, teenagers and everyday park visitors.
  • Fill the gaps in an existing gym – Individual units are the simplest way to extend a scheme that already exists, replace a tired station or add the piece your users keep asking for.
  • Built for permanent outdoor use – Every unit uses galvanised and powder-coated steel with sealed, maintenance-free bearings, so it stands up to UK weather and heavy public use.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about specifying, installing and maintaining Individual Outdoor Gym Units.
Does outdoor gym equipment need planning permission?

In most cases no, as gym units in an existing park, school or recreation ground are usually classed as permitted development. Listed sites, conservation areas and green belt land can be different, so we always recommend checking with your local planning authority before you order.

Where can outdoor gym units be installed?

Outdoor gym units are suitable for schools, parks, and community spaces where shared outdoor access is required.

How much space do we need for each unit?

As a guide, allow around 3m x 3m per station once the safety zone is included, though larger units need more. We survey your site free of charge and produce a scaled layout drawing showing exactly how the units fit.

Can outdoor gym units be combined?

Yes. Outdoor gym units can be installed individually or combined to create a larger outdoor fitness area suitable for different users and activities.

How do you stop outdoor gym equipment rusting?

All of our units are hot-dip galvanised and then powder-coated, which protects the steel from the inside out rather than relying on paint alone. Moving parts use sealed, maintenance-free bearings, so there is no greasing or adjustment required.

Who can use outdoor gym equipment, and does it need supervision?

Our public units are designed for users aged 14 and over and are self-guided, with instruction panels on each station showing correct technique. For younger users we supply age-appropriate education units, and we can add accessible or low-impact stations for wheelchair users and older adults.
