Most standard shelters on school grounds fall under permitted development, though anything near a boundary, in a conservation area or attached to a listed building will need checking. We flag this early in the design rather than at installation, and we can supply drawings if your local authority asks for them.
Steel or timber, depending on the setting. Galvanised steel with a powder-coated finish suits high-traffic and urban sites where vandalism is a concern. Timber sits better in parks and rural schools and gives a warmer feel. Both use roofing rated for UK wind and snow loading, and both need very little maintenance.
Yes, and it is one of the more straightforward additions. We survey the ground conditions, existing surfacing and any drainage, then design around them. Most installations take a few days on site and can be scheduled during a school holiday so that play is not disrupted.
Most furniture and bench installs take one to three days on site. Larger playground shelters and school fencing schemes typically run one to two weeks, depending on foundations and surfacing.
