Outdoor Furniture

Outdoor furniture decides how long people stay. We supply and install benches, seating, planters and accessible furniture for parks, playgrounds and public spaces across the UK, specified for constant public use rather than the occasional weekend in a back garden.

Why it matters

The Benefits of Outdoor Furniture For Schools and Parks

Public outdoor furniture takes a level of use that domestic products are never designed for. Getting the specification right at the start is the difference between furniture that lasts twenty years and furniture you replace in three.
  • Built for constant public use – Our benches and seating are specified for parks and school grounds, with heavier timber sections, concealed fixings and finishes that survive daily use rather than occasional weekend sitting.
  • Seating that includes everyone – Accessible furniture with wheelchair spaces, backrests and arm supports means older visitors and disabled users can use the same table as everyone else.
  • Planting that shapes the space – Sleeper planters and raised timber beds define routes, soften hard surfaces and give schools a workable growing area without laying out a whole garden.
  • Fixed down and hard to move – Ground-fixed installation keeps furniture where you put it, which cuts both theft and the antisocial rearranging that tends to follow.
  • Timber we can account for – Our timber is responsibly sourced and pressure-treated, so it weathers to a natural silver rather than rotting at the ground line.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about specifying, installing and maintaining Outdoor Furniture.
What outdoor furniture is best for schools?

For school grounds, look for ground-fixed timber or steel with no removable parts and no pinch points. Benches without backs work well for playgrounds because children use them from both sides. Sleeper planters double as informal seating and a growing area, which is why they are the item most primary schools order first.

How deep does a sleeper planter need to be?

For flowers and herbs, 30cm of soil is enough. For vegetables and shrubs, aim for 45cm or more so roots have room and the soil does not dry out in summer. Our tiered planters give different depths across the same unit, which suits schools growing several things at once.

Is recycled plastic furniture as good as timber?

For durability, yes, and in some ways better. Recycled plastic will not rot, split or need treating, and it handles wet ground far better than timber. Timber still looks and feels better in a park or rural setting, and it costs less upfront. We supply both and will tell you which suits your site rather than which has the better margin.

Can outdoor furniture be added to an existing park or playground?

Yes. Most of our furniture installs onto existing surfaces with ground anchors or concrete foundations, so there is no need to disturb what is already there. We survey access, ground conditions and any buried services first, then install around your opening hours.

Do we install as well as supply?

Yes, everything we supply we can install, UK-wide. That includes the groundworks, the fixings and clearing the site afterwards. We handle both because outdoor furniture that arrives flat-packed on a pallet tends to sit in a store cupboard for a term before anyone finds time to fit it.
