Why it matters

The benefits of inclusive swings

Swings are often the first thing children run to. Inclusive swing seats and group baskets mean children of all abilities can share that experience side by side.
  • Side-by-side play. Basket and cradle seats let children of different ages and abilities swing together.
  • Vestibular development. Swinging builds balance, core strength and spatial awareness.
  • Confidence. Supportive seats give less confident children a safe way to join in.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about specifying, installing and maintaining ZZ Test Swings.
What age range are these swings for?

Cradle seats suit ages 6 months to 4 years, flat seats ages 3+, and basket swings work for mixed ages together.

Can swings be installed on existing surfacing?

Usually yes. We survey the existing surface first and advise whether it meets impact-absorbing requirements for the swing height.

How much space does a swing bay need?

A double flat-seat bay typically needs around 7m x 7m including safety surfacing run-offs. We confirm exact clearances in the site survey.

What surfacing works best under swings?

Wetpour and rubber mulch are the most popular — both impact-absorbing and wheelchair friendly. Grass matting suits lower-budget schemes.

Are basket swings suitable for older children?

Yes. Basket swings suit mixed ages and are rated for group use, making them a favourite for KS2 and SEN settings alike.

How long does installation take?

A single swing bay is usually installed in two to three days including groundworks and surfacing.
