Multiplay units deliver a range of play experiences, including climbing, sliding, balancing and social play, all within a single structure. They maximise activity in a defined footprint and let children of different abilities engage at the same time.
In primary and SEN schools, nurseries, parish and town council parks, housing development play areas, holiday parks and visitor attractions. Any site with around 50m² or more of usable play area can usually accommodate a multiplay unit.
We supply timber playground equipment, robinia play equipment, stainless steel playground equipment and HPL composite multiplay units. Robinia playground equipment uses rot-resistant hardwood, giving a natural look without the upkeep associated with softwood.
Yes, we regularly retrofit multiplay units into existing playgrounds, working around existing equipment and surfacing. We survey the site, confirm fall zones and design a unit that fits the available footprint.
Taller towers with a playground climbing frame, monkey bars, climbing wall playground equipment, rope nets and a stainless steel playground slide suit 8+ and teen users. Adding basket swings or independent spinning items further increases challenge.
Mid-height steel or wooden playground equipment with a mix of climbing, sliding and social elements suits most school briefs. Larger themed wooden outdoor playground equipment works well for community parks, while compact low-rise units suit nursery and SEN settings.
Stainless steel playground equipment offers durability and a modern aesthetic for high-traffic public sites. Robinia natural playground units suit rural and naturalistic settings, while a standard timber playground or HPL composite multiplay suits schools wanting a warmer, lower-maintenance finish.
Most multiplay installs take three to seven working days on site, depending on size, foundations and surfacing. Larger themed or bespoke units can run two to three weeks.
Multiplay Unit Design and Installation
We offer a free playground design service for any new or existing scheme. For multiplay units, we measure the space, check fall zones and surfacing, then produce CAD layouts showing the structure in context. This is useful for visualising scale and flow before committing.
Our playground equipment installers handle groundworks, in-ground concrete foundations for playground timber posts or stainless steel uprights, structure assembly and surfacing.

Multiplay Unit Regulations
Multiplay units must meet BS EN 1176, the British standard for playground equipment in schools, playgrounds and community areas. It covers structural integrity, finger and entrapment gaps, platform spacing and fall heights.
Impact-attenuating surfacing is supplied to BS EN 1177 with the correct critical fall height for each platform. We provide RPII post-installation inspection and supply playground equipment signs detailing age suitability where required.
